I've been looking at posts about telephoto lenses and haven't seen any mention on this lens- the sigma 100-300 f4. It can be found for $834 w/ shipping.
Because I have the canon 28-135 I want a longer range than the 70-200 f4 can offer (granted it's $300 cheaper). Any thoughts are appreciated.

[edit] Oops... i just realized that the bigma is about the same price- so ummmm... yeah. Does that change any thoughts on this lens?

I am giving this lens some serious thought as well. You can find some good clean used ones for around $600. Here are some reviews of this lens if you are interested:

Yes, the Bigma is similar in price, but you are not getting a constant f4. Throw a 1.4tc on this lens and now you get up to a 420 and if I recall, I think it weighs about a pound less than the Bigma.

It's a great lens,. one of Sigma best EX Zooms. I've never heard a bad thing about it,. and the one I tried was really sweet!

This lens is the little brother to the Sigma 120-300 F2.8. If yuo search the archives will will find posts about the F4 lense. It will be my next lens purchase because I like the constant f4, is fairly light weight, and is more affordable than the F2.8 version. In general the reviews for this lense are very good.
