As hurricane Gustav moved through the Gulf of Mexico, it created a rare opportunity for me to shoot something other than motorsports, like some good surfing here on the west coast of Florida. I provided the link below to view the rest of this set.

Nice shots for rare Florida West Coast Action and now Pres. Bush wants to drill for oil on Florida's West Coast.......

I must admit, I'm on the fence about drilling in the Gulf, mainly because we've already broken the seal if you know what I mean!

I used a 70-200 f/4, but the key to close shots was to stand about 50 yards offshore in waste-deep water! :D

I hate going in the water with my gear...but if I must to get shots like this. My shot from earlier pales in comparison to these. Great set.

i may be inland minded, but let them drill, once the rigs over the horizon..5 mile?? you cant see that from the shore anyway.. that and it would make it cheaper for me to get a coast to;):lol:... hahah great photos

nice shots, my only thing about surf shots, and being a surfer, is that i wish i could see more of the wave.
