Wonder whether or not AI Servo autofocusing mode is supported in 300D. I learnt from the specification sheet that 300D did provide AI Servo mode for panning a moving subject(s) but I wonder how I can enable it (or use it).
Thanks.

The 300D doesn't have AI servo.

If you hack it, it's gonna have a crippled AI servo.
It's gonna hunt, but if to trigger the shutter, you'd have to release and then quickly press the shutter button. Needless to say, you'd probably be off focus.

Isn't the Sport mode in 300D defaults to Al Servo auto focuing?

Yes, you don't need the hack for that...
(But I wish it would be available in other modes ;))

This is no good.
I wish AI Servo available in shutter priority, aperture priority and manual mode.
And Canon is forcing me to go for 20D or hacked 300D :p

The hacked 300D ai servo isn't real AI servo - it bites to be honest. I'm not sure if sports mode has an effective ai servo or not, I never tried it.

Oh, my god. Even a hacked 300D cannot give me the AI servo...

Someone else can clarify... does the 300D do proper AI servo in sports mode? It might, I don't know. In creative zone it can't, there's an ugly workaround but it's not worth doing IMHO. If you need that upgrade ;)

It does proper AI in sports mode, and only sports mode. AI servo is most useful when a high speed object is approaching or moving away from you. You don't really need it for panning shots, because these work best when the subject is moving parallel to you, and the normal focusing easily works on this (maybe not as good as a 20D or 1 series, but it does a reasonably good job).

It does only in sports mode, which is by default ISO 400. The hack says it give second curtain flash and selectible Autofocus, but it does not, it does everything else it says it does though.

Once you learn it and get used to it its fine, atleast the jets I've used it on are in focus..
