View Full Version : Canon A40: Help plz! Newbie here

ok i bought a used Canon A40 and it just came with the usb cable.

my question is what do i need to get it up and running so i can upload the pictures to my computer?

i went to the canon website, and dowloaded the driver for the a40 but what program do i need to get everything working?

perferrably downloadable.

i'm new to the digital camera scene so any info to get me started would be great................

oh yeah one more thing after i installed the A40 driver and plugged the camera via usb it asked for some Canon Digital Solution cd............so any help would be great

Where did you buy the camera because it should have come with the Canon solutions disk. You say you've downloaded the drivers from the internet so in theory when it asks for them you should just be able to browse your pc to where you downloaded them. If I were you I'd chase up the firm you bought it from because it would make it easier if you had a disk. Also there should have been a TV cable and manual. Beyond that I dont think I can help you - I've only had the A40 a couple of months myself.

To get it up and running first you need the driver. For win98/2000 you need TWAIN driver and for winME/XP you need WIA driver. You can download one of them here

You need driver version 4.1.0 for A40.
But if you don't have the zoombrowser don't worry you can use a 'downloader' to download your pics to your pc. You can download 'downloader v1.5' here, it's free
