I found this link at Rob Galbraith's forum. It's a good review of the "Red's Issue" with the 1DMII.

If you don't care to read it, I'll summarize. The problem of blown out reds does exist with the 1D Mark II and it isn't just an exposure problem(as I had previously thought :o ). You can avoid blown out reds by shooting Raw, using Adobe RGB, and using DPP to convert. If you shoot jpeg, use Adobe RGB.

Thanks for summarizing for us, Scott. I generally do all those things anyway, so I'm guessing that's why I never had the problem.

I've only seen the red problem once or twice, in images I overexposed a lot. I do shoot RAW most of the time and this helps as there's a bigger margin for saving poorly exposed shots (I get too many of of those :)). Could very well be more to it than this, but I believe overexposure is the main culprit.

I too had not come across this issue,.. of course I've been shooting RAW AdobeRGB from day one...

Another reason to stay with Adobe RGB.
