The 17-40 comes with a dedicated lens hood and a Canon soft lens pouch. The 50mm f1.4 comes with nothing extra.
Cheers,

The 17-40 comes with a hood but it sucks.
Well, I should elaborate. For us APS sensor folks it sucks. It's designed to protect a 17mm lens so once you slap it on a 20D or sommat it doesn't exactly do much. The general recommendation if you are into hoods that actually do anything aside from scare small children and not fit very well in your camera bag is to go buy the hood for the 24 f/1.4 which fits and offers much better coverage. Of course if you have some full frame action goin' on you've got no worries coverage wise.
I normally have my 17-40 paired up with my 85 f/1.8.
