Usually, I just run the photo through the canon software or the Raw opener in Photoshop and save from there.
I decided I actually wanted to play around a bit with Photoshop and see what I can do. I like some of the "Dave Hill Style" stuff out there, and decided to give it a try on some of my concert photos. I didn't follow the general "instructions" I found exactly as they looked ehhh, but found something that looked cool and well, here it is.
Honest opinions! Tell me what you like, don't like, everything!!!!! :D

I like the first one 2nd is over cooked look at the other players shirt.

Yea, I noticed that. So, forget him, how about the foreground?

I prefer the original.
However, if you'd go down to about 50% of the edit, I'm not sure...

I find the other band member in the picture distracting IMHO. I see what you were trying to go for in the edit, trying to emphasize the emotion of the guitarist. Try cropping it so its just him and see what kind of impact that has.

I have to agree with René. I like the idea, but I think you over-edited it (somewhat more than just) a bit :)

Thanks! I didn't mention before, but my total experience with photoshop before last night is about 13 minutes and 42 seconds.
I'll take a look tonight when I get home and see what I can do to average the original and the edit.

Look at the bright side: You'll have tripled your experience in no time ;)

I think the crop is definitely an improvement. Besides that, you've overdone it again IMO. I wouldn't call it a photo anymore I guess...

I too prefer the original; skin doesn't look like skin any more in #2...

Now that that large negative space above the band, you need something to make it pop.... :p
