Oh go on then .........

#1 Really horrible colour - bizarre !
#2 Different - and okay - unusual perspective !
#3 Strange color - looks over saturated - wider perspective might have shown what they were sitting on - my eyes are drawn to what they are doing and where rather than to them
#4 Looks an uncomfortable and forced pose - bad face maybe reflects that - again bad color/white balance/saturation/whatever
#5 Just all wrong to me - not enough of the dude to make it work - tree is too prominent
#6 Strange colors again - probably need to get the joke to appreciate the poses !
#7 Looks over-exposed and a real uncomfortable pose to my eyes - uncomfortable
#8 What is it ? seems to be a random shot of four people doing nothing of any interest

Thanks for sharing anyway.

Wow, if we could all only be as good as you...

I hope, if you do weddings, that you aren't as much a pompous jerk as you were in your comments here.

I think your clients will like these shots, I agree on a couple of points that have been mentioned already though the 1st being; I'm not too keen on the PP on number 1 & also the awkward postioning of the bride on shot 7. However I've had a look at your blog & theres some beautiful images on there & some strongers ones from this wedding in my opinion.

Hey, ease up ...... nobody had commented on these so I thought I'd bother and give some honest feedback. The effort has been made to post these images and yet everybody else had just ignored them so I thought I'd help out.

What do you disagree with ? What's your views or do you just go around bad-mouthing other posters ?

Constructive criticism helps. Name calling doesn't. To the op - you have spelled 'Wedding' incorrectly on you blog. To Jam71868 - was my comment to the op pompous or helpful? I'd say helpful.

I think it was more the fact that it is expected to realise the good points for oneself so they don't need to be mentioned. That makes the negatives stand out a bit too much.

Although the last one doesn't seem to be of anything in particular, its a nice exposure and that makes up for it.

Sorry but nice exposures don't cut it... :)

If you post pictures here then assume people will critique them in many manners.

My initial comments were a bit abrupt as I was on my way out but wanted to leave something useful ...... apologies if the feedback came across "pompous". Bottom line is that it is all about opinions and styles and the fact that one shooter doesn't "get it" doesn't make it bad but, in my books, its still worth hearing how they see it.

I like most of them but not 5 + 7, they just don't seem to work.
5 is a nice idea but too much tree and as the eye is lead to the distance, I think she should be in focus on this shot, not him.
7 is just a bit sad looking in some way.
But that's just my opinion! lol

Hi Paul33

IMO your comments are far more useful than a bunch of wow's.... Tim wild used to be the man for the honest remarks but i haven't seen him in here for a while, looks like you may well a earned the title of Mr Blunt... ha...ha...

Nice to see a bit of blue sky in number 2, the wedding i shot this afternoon it rained... again...

I have to agree with paul33. His tone may have come across brusque, but I believe he meant well. And he is dead on with his comments.

I like the colour processing on 2, 3, 4 and 5.

1. The colour has been mentioned. I kind of think this is a nothing picture. It's not beautiful, romantic or a nice environment.

2. I personally quite like this. This type of shot can look really bad, but it works because they aren't looking at the camera. The chin is up getting rid of a potential double chin from the bride.

3. I don't mind this pick. Chin up for the bride. The posing in this pic needs some work.

4. Don't like this sorry. Double chin could have been avoided because this is a posed shot. I personally don't like the brides expression. Not quite enough of a smile to be a smile if you see what I mean. My main gripe is the amputated hand.
I do like the way you posed her torso. It's very flattering and you created shape. I like the position of the bouquet and your framing.

5. This shot was a really great idea. I don't think it worked on this occasion. My eye is drawn from the left to the right like reading. I get to the bride and shes out of focus and can't interpret her face. Then I cam see she is looking at something. I looked across and saw a tree. Then... ah! The groom.

If you had a greater depth of field she would have been in focus and it would take the view a under a second to interpret the picture. Then finally moving to a position where the tree doesn't break your story telling.

A few refinements and it will be a great shot.

6. Bril. The bouquet ruined it for me. Like the idea. If you wanted add humor you could have just asked the groom to hold his name upside down.
That way the humor would have been connected to the idea theme of the picture.

7. Unfortunately nothing about this pic looks natural. Though you did find and use a great backdrop. Maybe you have more from this set.

8. Nothing going on here.

Thanks for posting. Critiquing your images helps me learn. I acknowledge from experience that it's much easier to critique than do. I love the fact that you push yourself to try different ideas, instead of churning out the same boring standard shots.

I didn't take take Paul33's comments as pompous at all... especially because he's right with all of them. You should be thanking him for taking the time to try to help you improve...

If you post photos for C&C on here you should expect and deal with just about anything said... Not everyone here will just give the "Great shot" comments... And that's why this forum is so great (and helpful)!

I appreciate criticism, but just thought the one was a bit over the top. What got me was the "thanks for posting anyway"... I just kinda took that as... they suck, but thanks for the effort.

My apologies if I misunderstood.

The post about being pompous was mine and not from the original poster. I believe he appreciated the criticism more than I did.

You did !

It was genuine ...... always appreciate those who have the bottle to throw their work in front of other shooters.
