I figured someone else here might know some good resources. In another forum I have started visiting, this beautiful jumping spider was posted by someone (http://www.digitalslr.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?p=91165#91165) else but is having trouble ID'ing it. Click the image for the thread there and more images.

I tried PM'ing spidermanbryce but seems he doesn't allow it :(

It's been narrowed down to genus maratus by the photographer.

Any ideas?

It is, isn't it? I reckon it was a radioactive one of these that bit Peter Parker :)

Fantastic spider, obviously of Salticidae but other than that all I can suggest is a search of on-line resources, I can't suggest any for Oz.

BTW - you are reposting his image with permission aren't you?
We have strict rules about that.

G'day Lester. I have specifically stated in my post above that it isn't my image, and have posted it only in an attempt to obtain an ID. And I have linked from here to where the person who took the image posted it originally. And in the thread there where they posted it originally I have mentioned that I have posted the image here in an attempt to get an ID. I thought I had crosslinked it enough and made it clear that it's not my image. I'm just trying to help. If you feel I have violated something please let me know and I'll pull it or you can just delete the thread.

That is a truly colorful spider and I have no idea what it is.

I have changed the embedded image to a link to the original image to conform to POTN rules.

Hi Skip. You just beat me to it by seconds! I just woke up and was typing a PM to Lester explaining that I was just about to do that exact same thing, sent the PM and come back to the thread to see it done already by you! :)
Sorry for any trouble it may have caused.

Well someone in the original thread chased down an ID from a museum. Seems it was a male peacock spider. Interesting dance it does. Check out the picture top right:

PS - I've since been given approval to post the pics here, but no need now. Just check out the original thread here. Beautiful spider.

Tried PM'ing you with no success. Maybe your inbox is full? Sorry. Didn't mean to say it in a negative way. Just assumed you block PMs for some reason. But I had thought of you when we couldn't ID this fella.

It was ID'd as Maratus pavonis

I thought it was a joke when I first saw it, surprised there are not more images available on the net.
