View Full Version : Charging batteries in the U.K.

I'm planning a trip to the U.K. and am confused about voltage converters. [I'm in the U.S.] I want to take my G2, so will need to charge the battery and will need some sort of converter....they seem so varied in price, complexity, watts, volts, amps, blah blah blah. I don't want to get the wrong thing and: 1) not be able to charge my battery; or 2) ruin my charger because I've made some goofy mistake.
Any ideas?

If it helps - the UK uses 240 volts system (and a three pin square plug).
When a friend visited from Oregon all the was required for him to charge his video recorder batteries was an adapter to allow the round pin plug system to fit the square pin plug system.
However, if you are really worried have you considered buying a battery charger from the UK and after use selling it?

Ajax,
Check the G2 manual or the back of the charger, it will tell you what acceptable input is. On the back of my D30 charger it shows 100V-240V AC 50-60HZ. This means it can be used worldwide. All you need to get is an adapter. The best place is the airport, where you can get little kits that will work in many different countries.

Roger & Damian,
Thanks for the help. I'll read the manual [what a concept...*grin*] and see what it says. Good idea on buying one there if I need it. There's always eBay!
Thanks again.
