Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of these. Or know if there are bulbs, etc still available.
I understand they are an older model.
Thanks

Google, Advance Search finds seven pages of listings on the web about these!

Thanks, that's helpful.
I thought the idea of a forum was to get help and information from people with knowledge and experience. No?
Most of the google pages are bizrate, shopwicki, etc. .... not exactly useful information.
I was looking for more of a "yeah I had one of those, had to toss it after I couldn't find bulbs, modifiers, etc.)

Doing a little search in B&H I found the modeling lights but not the flash tubes which is a big con, you may want to contact B&H to find out if Broncolor still produces flashtubes for this unit.

On a forum of Broncolor or general photo topics, yes. On a Canon forum, no. You would have a higher degree of response on a broader forum! Most of the folks on this forum are not even knowledgeable about Canon speedlight usage with their Canon camera!

Come on Wilt, we regularly discuss Elinchrom, AB, Interfit, Sunpak, Vivitar, etc. Why not Broncolor? I can see your point - with no personal experience you directed him to Google, which was showing some results. But I can see his point, too - this forum is about "Small Flash and Studio Lighting" after all...

Ya know, just because one person responded doesn't mean no one else will. Give it some time and chill. Perhaps someone with actual experience will come along. In the meantime you've got something to read thru - the Google results.

sorry I was asking for help in a lighting forum, I thought that was the correct thing to do. Thanks for any help i did receive. I'll look elsewhere for info, or perhaps I should be looking for more up to date gear that I can just order parts as needed.
Thanks again

Most of the people on POTN are amateurs. Most of the pros on POTN have budgets. Broncolor is one of the most expensive lines of lights on the market, due to their superb color balance control, they set the standard for others to follow. $1.8k - 6.2k for a power pack at discount, $700-4500 heads, $1400-2200 monolights. The liklihood of finding a Broncolor user is somewhat remote.
I made my comments only to help guide the OP to a source of information that would get useful responses, not to shut the guy down! Has anyone here been able to provide information on the topic, based upon personal experience with the unit or the brand?!

I guess that's why I asked... if I had not received a single reply, i guess I would have had the answer to my original question...
Lets move on now, shall we?

These might prove enlightening:

Regardless of their other virtues, I would think a 330WS unit that can only be dialed down to 1/4 power might not be the most flexible choice (depending upon your inteded application, of course). Also, I would think those 20-odd year old capacitors must be getting mighty tired by now. Finally, based on some brief googling, it would appear you have a better chance of finding a unicorn's horn than a replacement flashtube for an Impact 41.

Photographer I work for has a Broncolor Impact 21 / 41 set.
These lights have full, half and 1/4 power setting (21 has 1/1 and 1/2).
They still work fine, but are less user friendly then a more modern set.
Here's what I said about them in a different thread:
A photographer I work for uses Broncolor Impact 41 and 21 (IIRC); they are simple monolights, settings for full, 1/2 and (the 41) 1/4 power.
Decent, but nothing special.
They use a different bayonet (smaller) then regular Pulso heads, and smaller modelling light and flash tubes.
I dislike the way they attach to a light stand (they screw on).
Three heads will fit into a 'suitcase' which is 'luggable' (I would hesitate calling it portable ;))
Here's (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320082882559) a set on ebay.
No idea about the availability of flash tubes / bulbs.

OK, thanks everyone, I think I will go with something a little newer, or brand new. Maybe some AB's

Wilt is right. I love Mercedes, Rolls Royce, BMW, Bentley, but most of all, I love Broncolor. But who the heck can afford 'em?

I based my response on the fact that this is the best, most comprehensive lighting forum online (that I have found). We have many different types of photographers, using all the brands under the sun. I know for a fact that Jason Cole (who hangs out in the Glamour & Nude Forum) uses Broncolor, and I thought there might be others as well (especially using older gear, which is readily available at good prices on the second-hand market). So I didn't assume that just because it was Broncolor, that it was in any way exclusive! Silly me...

Also: I don't own a Broncolor, but I've worked with Bron (304, 404, Pulso and Opus) for about 8 years...

I use Broncolor. I haven't used a Impact strobe since ~1988. They are not as popular in North America as they are in Europe. In Canada, Amplis is the Distributor. If you are completely lost, they have a toll free number and may be able to direct you to a source near you.
