Is anyone familiar with this meter?
I found it in a pile of my grandfathers photography equipment.
I am looking for any info I can get on it.

Sweet! If you're into actually using it, you should have it calibrated (google: George Quality Light Metric)

It's a 1946 DeJur Autocritic. (http://www.jollinger.com/photo/meters/meters/dejur_50.html)

Thank you
Anyone know what the equivalent of $20 in 1946 is in todays money?
Just trying to see what kind of investment this was to my grandfather.

Just found that in 1945, Per Capita Personal income was $1223, in 2007 it was $38611. So the meter was just under a full week's pay! In 2007 terms that would be $630

Thanks.
A fairly hefty piece of change for a poor hobbyist. No wonder he kept it in such good condition. (dusty in picture.)
Does this piece have any historical significance?

To you it does. I think the page that was linked above is probably the best info you'll find on it. If you have it calibrated it will work just as well for you as it did for your grandfather -- metering hasn't changed one lick.

But the cells have.
