Hi all,

I am planning to buy a Canon Camera :cool:

I am between choosing CANON EOS 300D or the Canon PowerShot Pro1. :confused:

what do u advice me to buy? :rolleyes:

I have not used Pro1 so can not comment but I had G5 and ended in selling it to buy an SLR :D

I would suggest to consider SLR, keeping in mind what it can deliver in the time to come. If you are thinking photography little more than hobby definitely you should go with an SLR. As some point or time you will *feel* the need of flexibility SLR offers.

If are just looking for a good prosumer camera then you can think of other prosumer level canon gears, not sure but I remember hearing not so good reviews about Pro1, note againI have not seen that camera

First of all welcome to the forum.

Now to you're question.
How much do you know about photography, do you have experience with film SLR, if so do you have lenses suitable for the 300D ?
Both the 300D and Pro 1 are fine cameras.
Assuming you are a novice to SLR photography I would say you would have to be prepared to spend more on lenses and accessories if you bought the 300D.
If you are not prepared to spend more on lenses and accessories go for the Pro 1.

You won't be disappointed with either.

welcome to the forum!

This is an important question that gets discussed a lot of times.

There is no 'best camera', there's only the 'best camera for your shooting style and requirements'.

It basically depends on what is most important for you :rolleyes: ... you can somehow boil it down to a compromise between compact size on one side and ultimate image quality on the other ... both have their merits, and then there is also cost to be considered ...

Also ... if you decide to go the 'compact' route ... bear in mind that there is a new camera available from Canon quite recently ... the Canon G6. It certainly deserves to be compared to the Pro1 that was introduced quite some time ago.
