Hi everyone,
I've just finally got my website online, and I'm still tweaking here and there. I would, however, be very interested in some feedback from anyone who wants to check it out.
the URL is www.afterglowimages.ca (http://www.afterglowimages.ca)
It's very rewarding to finally have this thing running...now to fill it up!
Thanks for looking!

Looks like you are off to a good start. My critiques:
- There are some layout issues on this side. See the attached image. (Logo is buried beneath galleries, navbar runs together, etc).
- Gallery images load slow and there are no thumbnails so I have no Idea if the investment in time is going to be "worth it" (i.e. something I was interested in looking at) Right now it is a shot in the dark.
- The whole site hugs tight to the left. I would personally center the content.
Congrats on the great start otherwise!

Thankyou for the feedback!
What browser are you using? Dreamweaver said all the CSS and html tags checked out.
And I'll be sure to add a thumbnail of the images...
Thanks again!

Made a couple changes to the css stuff. So, it might have fixed the positioning issues.
I hope it works in your browser now :)
Thank you for taking the time to post a screen-capture. I don't have a means to test this site on a bunch of different browsers

The positioning is a little better though still not "up to par" in my rather unprofessional opinion. The banner is no longer buried but the navbar is still "smushed" together. However, this seems to be only in Firefox 3. If you have any exposure to web development (well, you are now officially qualified :-P) you will quickly understand how ridiculously unfair the different browser rendering engines are with displaying your content exactly how you think******** you have coded it. (note the over-exaggerated disclaimer).
Since FF now has ~20%+ "market" share, you are going to want to make sure everything looks normal in it as well as IE. Also, there is No Excuse™ for "not having the means" to test on other browsers since all of the major ones are free (when was the last time you paid for a web browser) :) I highly recommend installing all of them and checking your content across all the major three (Internet Explorer - Microsoft, Firefox - All OS's including Linux, Opera - Macs).

Also, use this tool to see if your pages pass the validation tests from the organization who pretty much defines internet coding standards (W3C). This, while not definite, is a good starting point to ensure that your site will look the same across all browsers.

Keep on hacking...you are almost there! :D
Edit: Still wishing for some gallery thumbs, but that may be out of your control. ;-)

Thank you for taking another look!
I will download firefox and test it out. I don't have access to a Mac, though, which will make it hard to test. But I'll keep asking around.
That w3 validator tool will probably help alot, too.
I'm not sure why you're not seeing the thumbnails. I added them as of my last post. Maybe this is a browser issue too? grr
I'll get to work on this now, and see what I can do.
Thanks again for your help! :)

Okay, I downloaded Firefox, and it all works in there now, too. The thumbnail images are also appearing as intended in both IE and FF. So if they're not showing up, I'm really not sure why. If you can see the images, you should also be able to see the thumbnails. They're all embedded in the same object.
That w3c validator tool was very handy in picking out some issues for me. There are still some "issues", but it doesn't seem to make a difference in the way the browsers interpret anything.
The only annoying part is that FF and IE interpret the "break" tag differently. oh well. I think I've struck a happy medium.
Thanks again!
