G'Day All.
A couple of photos of Newcastle, Australia from the obelisk (an old shipping beacon).
The first shows the industrial side of the city, with 2 ships (Corona Garland, Corio) berthed at Port Waratah Coal Terminal, and two futher behind at Kooragang Island Coal Terminal. Note all the coal stockpiles.
The second shows the more fun, beachy side of the city - I hope :-), with Nobbys beach and headland in the foreground, and the Stockton sanddunes in the background.

#2 is my favorite. But it might need a slight horizon adjustment (not sure).
I agree with Raj. I'd really like the first one more without some of the foreground. Cool industrial shot otherwise!

Thanks for the comments. Im not keen on that house myself, but its about the best I can get from there :-(. I think it's ther close proximinty of the houses whih made the use of the obelisk as a shipping marker obsolete :-).
I'm not too sure about that horizon. Sometimes it looks level, and other times not. The beach at the back is much further away on the right than the left (i.e it curves away), so it may just appear to slope away to the right. I was using the vertical buildings to judge, but I only eyeballed it :-). Must keep an eye on those horizons !

I think you're right about the horizon Steve. My bad! When I look at the buildings it does look more level.

I'm not 100% sure myself. Horizons give me no end of trouble.Maybe I should use a tripod and spirit level more often..these we're handheld.
