Do you guys/gals ever need extra motivation to go out and do a quality shooting session? Lately I have been hard pressed to come up with *good* ideas for quality shots. Any advice on how to jump start the creative juices?

:D

Lately, it happens to me every time I go out with the camera. I live in what many people consider to be one of the most photogenic cities in the world, and I can't think of a single thing I really want to photograph.

I am just totally uninspired. I see what great stuff so many creative people do with subjects I wouldn't even look at, and I am thoroughly disgusted with myself.

I will watch this thread hoping someone has something to help pull me out of the doldrums!

Haha, well I can see I'm not alone - love your sig by the way, "mediocre images", too much! lol!

I think the real challenge is to try and create truly novel photographs. I mean, I see some beautiful shots of say the Brooklyn Bridge or NYC skyline, but after the 1000th time it does start to look too familiar. No offense to the people who post these, because most are wonderful shots technically.

I understand it can be easy to be too critical of one's work too, so don't give up!

I live about 50 miles out of Chicago, in a newly constructed, not finished, very flat neighborhood. Most of the things that surround me are corn fields, farms, and strip malls.

This summer Ive been into the City a ton and made lots of photographs. That has caused me to shoot next to nothing if I wasnt downtown. Its so easy to find stuff to shoot in the city, that I find being at home soooo bland. Ill go a week without picking up a camera(except for the disposables at work, I take a self portrait a day on them lol) cause im just not motivated to create something from nothing.

But im going to the city this weekend wooot, lets hope I shoot a ton.
