My familiy bought a IXUS30 camera at home, charged the battery used the camera to test it (a couple of shots), then packed it and sent it to me (im an exchange student, far away from home :)).

Well the bottom line, i got the camera, powerd it on, took a couple pictures until I used up my battery. BUT. Now i cant recharge it!!! I've conected the charger and it doesnt work. The orange light doesnt blink. What are the possible reasons for this happening?

A) is it possible that the battery doesnt work? If i put it in my camera and try to power it up, it sometimes powers up (and then promptly dies - because it is empty) or nothing happens (i guess its empty).
B) the charger is defective.
C)?!?!?!?!?

Please note, ive used the battery only once, and it has been charged only once.

Anyways, help is greatly apreciated!

Is the power supply correct for the line voltage where you are now? The Ixus product name suggests that it was shipped to a country using 240V; if you're in North America with 110V, and trying to use a voltage converter between the mains and the charger, you might be over-complicating things, plus the voltage converter may not be putting out clean enough power for the charger. The charger should recognize (see if it says 110-240V on it) 110V, needing only an appropriate power cord (available at most electronics or computer stores).

i'm using the 100-240V converter, and I have tryed to charge the battery in a couple of different sockets. Will try even more of them tho, maybe there is a problem with the current. BUT seems highly unlikely.

converter == adapter, and the camera was bought in europe (slovenia) (230V) and shipped to sweden (220V or 240V i do not know).

OK - Slovenia to Sweden won't be a power problem. Can you get hold of a voltmeter and see what the charger's producing at the contacts (may require some experimentation to find the right combination of contacts)?

im going to try it tomorrow at the lab on the university, but i think that there is something wrong with the charger and i'll try to excersise my warranty rights in a local canon dealership.

i really dont know if they stock the chargers.... i hope they do, i really enjoy my new IXUS30, small, compact, great photoquality, great movies, all its lacking is a webcam setting and capability to charge thru the USB.
