I'm fairly new to photography. I've been doing it for about 8 months now. Really beginning to really understand and be able to know my way around the camera.

I have a Canon 40D

What I'm wanting to know, what are some good programs out there that I can begin learning and trying to shoot HDR photography.

Any helpful tips or even tutorials would be greatly appreciated.

This one seems like a good start.

I hear very good things about photomatix. I have yet to 'acquire' it though (hint hint anyone with serial #)

MPOWER!! are you a BFC member too? I have a 95 M3 myself, currently doing an HDR of it lol.

back on topic- after trying out photomatix I definitely recommend that- makes it super easy.

See this thread:

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=563543

for free HDR software and see this site:

http://www.hdrlabs.com/news/index.php

- consider buying the HDRI Handbook, it is a concise and well written collection of the theory and practice of HDR imaging and examples.

Also this site, an oldie but a goodie:

http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Data/HighResProbes/

for starters.

Enjoy!
