This pic was taken in 1981 & just scanned to convert into digital to burn onto a CD. This was taken hurriedly early in the morning while camping in the valley. Not even time to put my contact lens on. I cropped to a 1.5 : 1 ratio to minimize the expanse of sky but I wish a had more of the foreground and less of the sky as well as the left base of the left 'mitten' which is truncated. Comments will be appreciated...Harvey

Love those soft colors! Nice that you were able to digitize it.
A couple of distractions, though:
1. The blown-out highlight in the upper left corner. Try darkening it or cloning over it with a segment of cloud.
2. The blurred lines (foliage?) at bottom center. Easy enough to cover up.
If you want to de-emphasize the sky even more, you could crop to 2:1 and get a faux panorama, but then you'd lose the clouds. If you are not a purist, you could "cheat" and clone them further down the image before cropping... :)
Cheers,

I think that I am only getting a thumbnail. But I like it.
An what a coincidence.. just three hours ago, I shot a mauve sky at the Bruce Pit. I just finished cropping and I would post here -- but I do not want to detract from you own fine show.
Frankly I knod of like it like it is. It is simply a mood, and some soft colors. A fine example of how there is so mych variation if sky colours at dusk. In what month were you camping here?
Thanks
HOWIE

Thx for your comments Mitch & Howie. I did darken the upper left hand corner with some mauve clouds but left the blurred weeds in the foreground. Personally I like them as they break up the 'manotony ' of the horizon.
Howie, we were there the later part of June after the kids were out of school. That area of the American southwest is a great place to visit and take pix. Places like Natural Bridges National Monument, Gooseneck of the San Juan River, Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, 2nd Mesa (where the Navajo & Hopi frown on people taking pix), Petrified Forest, Walnut Canyon & the Grand Canyon, especially the North Rim for sunrises & mostly sunsets...Harvey
