Hello,

I recently shot my first wedding (Aug 23rd). What a relief! I was so worried beforehand and didn't sleep the night before the wedding. It was a friend's sister that was getting married and was not paying me, but that didn't really lessen my stress.

Well, luckily I found these boards a few weeks before the wedding and I spent many a sleepless night here looking for inspiration and tips/tricks for the lighting that I knew I would be facing. I also read a few wedding photography books and browsed other photographers blogs/websites.

The day flew by so fast, but I had a great time, and I'm quite happy with many of the shots that I got. I would, however, love to hear any critisism because I know I still have a lot to learn. I know I blew the highlights in a few of my shots, and will have to work on that for the future. I'm also quite new to photoshop, so any advice on my PP work would be appreciated.

I had a hard time picking 8, and didn't include any of the reception, as those are the few that I am least proud of. I'll put up a link when I get them posted on a blog.

Thanks for looking!

I think the captures themselves are pretty good and you've certainly nailed the last one but the close-ups are quite harsh on tone to my eyes ..... look like the contrast has been over boosted but I guess that's a taste thing.

thanks for the comments. This was my first time shooting RAW and my first time using ACR. I was wondering if the contrast might be too much. I'm new to using curves as well, and will have to play around abit. Thanks again.

Nice work.

I don't think there is too much PP in No 5, I think they will love it. I'd like to see that in black and white too, that would remove any distraction that the green may be to some people.

1 to 5 - shows you have a great style.
At least, a style I really like. There is emotion in these shots, and that's all that really matters to me.

Agree with everyone, 8 is fantastic and good overall. On 5, to me it's a little too much PP, but I think this comes down to personal taste.

thank-you all for the kind comments, I'm glad that people seem to like them. I really need to work on my confidence if I'm going to continue down this road, I was such a nervous wreck for this wedding! Not only that, I started crying during the speeches  I guess after you shoot so many weddings you probably become immune to the sappiness... Maybe it's just my new mom hormones!

Anyhow, thanks again:)

Skin tones are a bit harsh on most of them but i really like the poses and composition. I think you need a little more time spent in post processing but otherwise, great job!

Good job! I love the pose on #8. I'll have to remember that one. I also just shot my first wedding this weekend and I know what you went through. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun too!

My only comments are that they seem a bit too contrasty. Otherwise, I like what you've done.

#3 and #8 have great composition. I like that style! Some pics look under exposed, but some post processing can help that a bit. Congrats on your first wedding!
