Hi everyone. Newbie here. I'm from southern Ill. and here is a shot of one of my co-workers. Any suggestions apprecitated.

Welcome to the forums. One of the important features in portraits or head shots, are our eyes. Maybe try and show some more of them. But I do like the close crop. :)
And the fact it's black and white.

Nice shot, but I have to agree with Wazza.
Also, I'd go for a bit more sharpness because I think this picture would work very nice with a 'harsh' look to it.
