View Full Version : Feisol 3441s with Q3 anyone?

I am thinking of getting Feisol 3441s with Markins Q3. I found another thread where someone suggested Q3tr but I don't find Q3tr on markins website.

I would like to know if there are any possible issues with this combination(3441s + Q3) and whether the legs will fold back for tirpod to fit in the bag.

Any help is appreciated :)

The Q3TR has a shorter knob on the clamp and it has a straight instead of beveled scale on the panning base. If you do a search, a couple of guys here have done a review on them complete with pictures.

The ballhead is not on the markinsamerica website, but you apparently can get it by emailing them - it is available.

I think the only issue (and it was also discussed here in the threads I saw) was that because of the knob placement on the ballhead body, if you wanted the legs to close fully (with the ballhead inside) you needed to extend one of the legs by a quarter inch or so to accomodate the panning knob, if I recall correctly. Looked like a very nice package.

but I don't find Q3tr on markins website. It's in the "Color & Option" dropdown as "Traveler".

My Markins Q3 Traveler should be here tomorrow. I ordered the Feisol 3441s on Friday. I plan to write a review of the legs once I get them.

Tell us about the Q3T when you get it. I'm going to pounce on a Q3 shortly and I'd like to see what you have to say about the traveler version.

Will do. The specs look great and all have had glowing reviews of all Markins products. It was a little hard to spend 300 on just a head, but I'm sure it will be well worth it.

Sorry delay.

I have no pictures but if you need/want pictures of the Q3T I will post some up.

Initial impressions: The head is GREAT. Seems to be built solid as a tank. The specs say the head supports 65lbs. and I believe. When locked, the ball feels ROCK solid. The head will definitely NOT be the weak point of your tripod setup.

The panning base is smooth. The knobs seem well built and function smooth with no catching or grittiness. The arca quick release seems just as solid.

I also ordered a QR plate that would fit on my 70-200 and 400 L lenses. I know I could have got the plate on eBay for cheaper, but this plate seems pretty solid, fits well and I want extras so I don't have to interchange between lenses.

I would not hesitate to order the Markins Q3 Traveler. It's small and light, yet rock solid.

I don't think there is much competition on the market where you can get:

Small size (height)
Small panning base (to fit Gitzo/Feisol Traveler tripods)
Load capacity of 65lbs.
Quality of workmanship. I can't imagine a defect occuring with this thing.

Thanks a lot for this info! I thought it was not available in US. Am going to order right away :)
