Will Tamron warranty a soft focus lens or does it come out of pocket? I recently got to compare 2 of the same lens and found mine was softer across different f-stops with same focal range. I had the camera on a tripod and swapped out the lens. The lens I was comparing to a friends is the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. Thanks

I should think the warranty would cover a soft lens, yes. Haven't dealt with Tamron Factory Service myself but I had no issues at all sending a soft lens to SIgma, for example, for warranty service. A misaligned lens element should definitely be covered by your warranty.

tamron fixes soft lenses for free as long as it is in warranty. took them 3 weeks to fix my 28-75mm though

cool. thanks. Do you call to set up a service or should I just mail it to the service center with a note attached stating the issues. Anyone have an idea if they would clean out a 1 or 2 dust specs while its being serviced for the soft focus issue. I didn't put a filter on right away but it's not a big deal since it doesn't affect the image in any way.
