I'll stick this post here, seems as good as anywhere.

A lot of pros and part-time pros often find it hard work to make sure they not only get paid for their work, but that the credits for published pictures are shown and are correct.

Well, my hat goes off to this newspaper that published two of my shots, not only the correct credit, spelling spot on, but my website address too. Now I know why the web stats took a sudden jump. If I could get the rest of them to be like this.....

Sorry about the quality, but newsprint is awful to scan.

And the bit that impressed me:

Nice work, from you and the newspaper.

If I may ask, what sort of payment would newspapers usually give for a pic they use on the front page? Of course it will vary, i'm just wondering about the ballpark figure.

Congrats on your publication. If you have a business, consider naming it your website address and copyright or credit it to that.

credit and maybe (c) to kengrayphotography.com

That way you'll always get your website address in the credits.

Congrats on your publication. If you have a business, consider naming it your website address and copyright or credit it to that.

Pradeep, I am regularly published, almost 200 in 2004. Magazines are generally very good and clear with credits. Newspapers on the other hand are less careful or accurate when printing your details (in my experience). I was pleased, if not shocked, to see this journalist make sure that everything was just right and going the extra mile with the web address.

I prefer to hold the copyright in my name. My websites are well known and I have no intention of causing any confusion by making changes.
