Just returned from Circuit City with my new SX110is Wahooooo!!!!!
As I previously mentioned, two weeks ago I purchased a new SX100is and really liked it. The day after I got it I discovered Canon would soon release the SX110is. After learning a little about it I decided I wanted it so Circuit City was kind enough to offer me store credit for the Camera I just returned without the dreaded restocking fee. Well, a week and a half later the Camera arrived at a nearby store.
As documented everywere, the SX110is has a 9mp sensor, a full 3" lcd, reconfigured buttons and a less chunky streamlined shape.
Initial impressions having owned this camera for 30 minutes. The 3" LCD is really noticeably bigger and nicer to look at. The dial wheel has been refined as I hoped. I am doubtful I will ever accidentally actuate a dial wheel button when rotating like I would constantly do on the SX100is. With most other buttons relocated near the dial wheel it makes it easier to select the buttons with your right hand thumb which I also like. The overall shape of the new SX110is seems less bulky and more streamlined. Just looks and feels a little smaller.
Otherwise everything else seems quite similar. The lens system is the same. The digic III processor is the same. Face detection and image stabilizer seems the same. Flash recharge delay is the same :-( There is an "Easy" mode in addition to "Auto" mode on the dial which I cannot remember if the SX100is had???
All in all for the additional $47 if cost to upgrade I'm quite happy and look forward to several years of high image quality with this Canon.

Happy to be one of the first to buy the new SX110is
