What good is $40 printing credit? That would get like four 6x4" prints? Seems a waste of time. Agree re travel further.

You need to google photographers in your area to work out pricing.

In your pricing, keep in mind your experience level also.

I think you need to reconsider your shooting time, calling a package "premium" or "premier" means at least 8-10 hours.

My deluxe package includes 10 hours photography, but different parts of the world have different traditions and requirements.

Josh - I don't really like giving people the kinds of choices as you describe.

Firstly, offering someone a 3 hour package is counter-intuitive for a wedding. It does neither you nor the bride any good. For the bride, she has to window her day to fit you in at the right 3 hours. For you, that limits your income potential to as many shots as you can get in 3 hours. I don't like the odds for either side in this scenario. Make the coverage at least 6 hours. (1 hour before ceremony, 1 hour for ceremony, 1 hour after ceremony, 3 hours reception, adjust to fit.)

I also wouldn't offer 4x6s as final prints in a package.

If you want to dollar-down or dollar-up your package offering, consider setting a base price, and describe something nice that's included.

Eg.

"Basic" package : $1500
- Event coverage up to 6 hours
- Proofs in a portfolio
- One fine art print, your choice, 11x14 on canvas
- $350 prints credit

"Basic Plus" package: $2250
- Event coverage up to 8 hours
- Proofs in a portfolio
- One fine art print, your choice, 16x20 on canvas
- $500 prints credit

Add ons:
- Digital .CR2 files (RAW) may be purchased one year after the event ($1000)
- Conversion from .CR2 to JPG ($10/file)

But as others have suggested, you need to research your area. Since this is how brides will be comparing you, you need to find what will make you stand out from the crowd.

I would try to simplify the pricing. Too many choices.

Where are you based out of? It can make a big difference in both price and basic services you need to provide or atleast clauses you need to include in a contract.

Cheers,
Josh

i agree about the timing and whatnot.

instead of doing 3,4, and 5 hour

ive decided to switch it to 6 hours 8 hours, and 10 hours, and do 3 packages instead of four.

also what would be a decent hourly rate for weddings so i have an idea how to calculate the packages

Just a note on 3 hours being too short - it really depends on your market.

In my market there is a definite need for three hour coverage as the brides do not want prep shots or reception. Just ceremony and a few portraits afterwards.

Know thy market and build for that, imho.
