I am looking to replace some stolen equipment and would like to pick up a nice 24-105 L lens. I have one available for $850 but I figure I have the weekend to flesh out the field. If you have one of these that you are looking to unload, I would love it.
If you need help deciding, know that I do a ton of charity work with my camera. I do free sports photos at the YMCA, local church leagues or wherever a professional isn't already covering the sport. I do it for fun and to see the look on the faces of the kids. I have three boys and three girls and I know how much it means to them to see their accomplishments being noticed. It was a real drag to have my gear stolen. While some of it was covered by insurance, I good portion wasn't. I will still keep giving back because I realize I am blessed. In fact, I encourage everyone to take a shot at giving free services to their neighbors. While you can't do it full time, you will be amazed at how fulfilled you will feel when you see the face of a little guy who dreams of one day playing in the NFL. The one thing I would be careful of is don't step on the toes of the professionals trying to make a living. You may be able to do it for less because you have a full-time job elsewhere, but this is their job. They have expenses and overhead and facing competition from amateurs is something they shouldn't have to deal with.
