Kia Ora (Hi),
I'm a newbie.
Looking to find info on the S45, which I know is not released in the US but was hoping someone might be here from a country that it has been.
If not, I'd love to lurk some and learn about the S30 and S40 though anyway.
thanks
Aaron

I'm not a user yet, but I've ordered my S45 yesterday and hope to receive it next week.
So..... keep in touch.

Peter

Hey there Peter,
I will certainly keep in touch...I am pretty sure that it is the camera I would like to order. Being that it will be my first (and only for some time) digital camera, I want to ensure I get the best for my needs and money. Therefore, I am very keen to talk to owners of it!

Hi Aaron,
It's a new model (at least here in The Netherlands), and hard to get hold of. I ordered one almost a month ago, and the delivery date is postponed again (for the third time). So now I'm hoping for it to arrive somewhere next week.........

Hi Aaron,
I have one for a week and did already 600 pictures with it.I like it so much that I almost forgot that I have a Fuji S1.
I began with a S 10 and played with a S20 and S30 and sometimes with a G2 of a friend, but this one has the image quality hardly to believe for such a small camera.
I did some pictures of airplanes inside a museum on very low lightconditions, handheld and they came all out great.I will post them very soon on pbase/jle56.

Greetings S45 users.
I will shortly buy a digital camera and have narrowed the options down to the S45 and the G2.
The G2 has many more features than I need and is obviously more expensive but it does have add-on lenses in its favour. (Unfortunately it does not appear to have a waterproof case as one of its options- but thats another issue).
I will be in need of a tele lense and I find that the 3x optical zoom is insufficient for my needs.
I have been advised by many a salesperson that the digital zoom option on a camera is not worth considering but none of them have been able to show me a printout from an S45 with the digital zoom in action.
What I would like to know is how much digital zoom can you use (on superfine/high res settings) until the picture deteriorates to the equivalent of, say, 2MP?

I am also in the market for my first digicam, and have also narrowed my choices to the S45 and the G2/3 (still not 100% sure if the G3 extra features are worth the extra $$$.)
To answer the question above about digital zoom, take a look at this information from Digital Photography Review - this website has been a conucopia of information and has assisted greatly with narrowing my choices:
http://www.dpreview.com/learn/Glossary/Digital_Imaging/Digital_zoom_01.htm
The site also has reviews of the S45 and G2 if you'd like to see what he says about them.
I am torn because I would like to have the ability to use the camera (with a housing) underwater, and so far the only one for the G2/G3 that I have found on the internet (via a third party) costs as much as the camera itself. I'm hoping Canon has one in development.
