Hi guys, I'm new to using Geosetter. I just want to make sure I'm geotagging correctly and I'm hoping that someone would double check to make sure I'm following all of the correct procedures.
1. Make sure the settings are setup properly. Which options did you guys tick for "JPEG" and "Canon"? I personally don't need any XMP sidecar files, but if I don't tick that option then the option to "always update EXIF data in image" is greyed out. I just want the GPS data to be placed intot the EXIF header. Any other option that I should consider? What about the "save IPTC data as unicode"? Will this option allow me to use Chinese characters for the EXIF?
2. Open up Geosetter and load up the files for geotagging.
3. Click on the "Synchronize geo data of selected images with GPS data files" or "Ctrl+G"
4. Next select the GPX file that I have with the GPS coordinates. What about the "Assignbment of Found Positions"? I'm not sure what that option does. Another thing is that I didn't use UTC time format. I just set my GPS device (Garmin 60CSX) to record the time in China Standard Time. I'm back in the Pacific Standard Time zone so I need to factor that in as I synchronize the files (JPG & GPX). Did you guys change the "Maximum Time Difference between Taken Dates and Trackpoints [seconds]:"?
What about the Time Adjustment part? I'm really confused about it. The default option is to "Use Local Windows Settings", but it's obvious that the time Windows use would be different from the time that I set in my camera which is to China Standard Time. How do I compensate the time difference then?
5. I guess once I figure out what to do for part 4 then I just click ok right?
