I have a friend who is turning 50 next month and his wife and myself would like to do something really nice but not a party as he is not into big groups of people and is adamantly against any celebration.
This is my question...
Do you have any ideas "photography" wise that you can suggest. He has a newfound interest in photography and has a lot of nice new stuff for his hobby.
I know this is a long shot but if you were a bit of a loner with photography as a hobby, what would thrill you?
He is doing an online course so that's out.
I don't have much hope but give it your best shot. (no pun intended)

Well, you didn't say where he lives or what type of photography he enjoys, but what about a day trip to some scenic location? He could get away from it all for a day and get a chance to use his new gear. Or, perhaps his wife may want to offer to spend the evening posing for some "glamour" shots! (Most every guy would get a thrill out of that.)

Hey...I just thought of the seminar/workshop idea and sent it along to wifey. What is NAPP?
Thanks for the input. :)

A 5D Mk II

:D:D:p:p:mrgreen::wink:

(Seriously though...any new gadgets would probably go well. It might be difficult to ascertain what he's already got, but there's filters, tripods, tripod heads, flash accessories, card readers, light meters, remote triggers...and there's also books, DVD's, field guides etc)

If he's seriously getting into the digital photography hobby, how about an external hard drive and back-up software for his computer? Or any other accessory for the computer part of the hobby. Can't forget the darkroom!

a couple memory cards, a card reader for the computer, maybe a camera backpack, POTN strap for his camera ;)

Hmmm...

A lot depends on his areas of interest, his experience, and what he already has, as well as the budget...

A one-day workshop in an area of photography that really interests him

A good book specializing in the same

A lens that would fit the same

Needed software that he's putting off buying for himself
