Hi,

Basically to sum up things im getting into a new business, part of the business includes digital phtotgraphy processing, selling personalised gifts like cushions, wallets, clocks, jigsaws, tshirts, crystals etc with pictures of loved ones on it.

Theres also a market for taking photo shoots of babies as there is a crowd that visit our town every couple of months and do these shots. They do them on limited backgrounds as they only have room for a small setup as the use a small area in the local shopping centre. Anyway when they do come to town its very popular so we want to offer this as a service. Well be using a greenscreen and putting the images on a selection of digital backdrops.

Problem is we dont know a whole lot about potrait shooting or equipment. I tried to ask advice on here and everyone is very helpful but they were on a different level when it came to advice and when they mentioned different lighting equipment and lenses i was lost.

So is there somewhere online (quite some distance from the nearest town that does photography lessons so thats not an alternative) where i can pay to learn all about this so over the next month i can learn the conditions that different lenses are used in, what all the lighting equipment is and how to use it and so at the end of it ill be able to go into a camera shop and select the correct equipment and know what im looking for.

Thing is i really dont need to know about anything other than upclose potrait photography and i understand real experience can only be gained with that very thing but i just need to learn the lingo and get the basics known in 4 weeks from an online resource. Not ideal but at least ill be more knowledgeable at the end of it than i am now but i dont know where to start.

Appreciate any advice

Because you have a descriptive title, you can look at the "Similar Threads" links at the bottom-left of this page!
Each link you visit should provide more links at the bottom.

Besides those, there's a LOT of info in the "Sticky"s at the top of each forum section to help you out.

Thanks i found someone locally that does 1 on 1 courses and they tailor the course to your needs. A bit expensive compared to classroom courses but im stuck for time so its the best available option. Thanks
