Is there a way to change the folder number, mine always defaults to 100Canon, I would like to be able to change this, I have a 40D. I would prefer if it changed with the actual number of the images as it reaches a higher number, but I imagine that is not possible.

No. Doesn't matter what the folder name is anyway, just copy your files off. You can use DIM from www.alanlight.com to automate the copying if you find the folder names offensive.

Thank You, no I dont find them Offensive its just that I hate to rename everything as I go along. I will look at the software you suggested, appreciate your response.

Why are you taking the folder over? Don't you categorise/organise the images on your PC anyway? Personally I organise personal images by date - year folder, month subfolders, day subfolders which I sometimes add a description too). I organise wedding images by year, then couple name. It takes me about 30 seconds to find any given image, so long as I know about when it was shot.

Tim I move the folder to my desktop, where I then Have to rename it to my liking so I guess your software does the same thing but still requires my input so for that I will then continue doing it my way.

DIM can automatically copy files to the correct place on your hard drive, based on date, and rename the images as well if you like.

defaults to 100Canon A few items above the Format menu item, you can change from Auto Reset to Continuous numbering. That would show you the total number of images in hundreds as the folder names changed.

That would show you the total number of images in hundreds as the folder names changed.I have it setup to continous numbering and though the image numbers do change, the folders remain the same. I seldom shoot over 100 shots at a time, but the few times I have even if it goes to 200Canon, once I remove the folders to my desktop it reverts to 100Canon. It is a poor system at best.

once I remove the folders to my desktop it reverts to 100Canon. Unless there's another setting I don't know about, I don't think it should do that.

I agree with Tim here. DIM is an excellent program that makes filing your downloaded photos a breeze, once you have it set up. Try it.

I think my camera folder numbers reset, but i've never really paid much attention.

I will give it a go though to be honest I have not liked what I have seen so far, it does not seem to do much more for me than I am already doing by hand and its just another piece of software added to the computer, but thanks for the input.

I don't use DIM any more either, I just copy the images using windows explorer.
