Tripod Bargain (UK)

As some of you know I have been looking to get a decent tripod, well I went on to warehouse Express website the night before last to order a Manfrotto 055pro etc and today I had delivered a lovely set of :lol:Velbon Sherpa-Pro 630 legs and a basic head to get going.

No they did not make a mistake.

I thought I would have a last check before ordering and found the 630 legs were half price £140:eek:, well knowing how much people think of these I could not resist a set of carbon fibre legs at this price. Presumably there is a new model coming as the website says last few so if you want a bargain get in quick.

Now need to save up to get a head to match the legs.

Another bargain under Mail Order Returns is an unused LowePro 650 AW (Stealth Reporter) for £70. Usual price is £110 (ish).

Nearly bought it myself, then remembered I already had one. :)

Yes, there are new tripods on the way: cinders from a vulcanic lava field, melted and weaved, even lighter and stronger than carbon fibre. Gitzo just had a press anouncement on these.

What will they think of next? They have them at warehouse Express called the Basalt range but they start from £199. which would have left me nothing for a head.

I love some of the warnings on the leaflet that come with the Velbon.

In some cases forces beyond expectation may occur, camera may fall down.

When carrying tripod, Spike of Leg-top should be hidden for safety reason. Odd mine has not got spikes on the top only the bottom.

You've never seen the old Bogen (Manfrotto) tripod ads which claimed that before Lester Bogen got behind his tripods he got on them, complete with picture to prove it?
