Can people post images of posed portraits of the wedding party, bride and groom? I have a wedding in october and i'm shooting posed pictures in a church for the first time. I'm worried about lighting the background so I was looking for examples and how exactly it's done.

Are you looking for traditional posed formals or are you looking for the "Toogy" style?

THAT is exactly what I thought TOOGY! He's got an awesome style that is free and open and very very modern.

I personally hate that stand in front of the alter with all the music stands, flags, flowers, organ and chairs behind you shot!

This is one of my favorite poses to do. Its done using a on camera filter, and you just have the group gather round and cheer!! anyways just my idea of a fun group shot.

If you worry about the bg ambient, put your camera on a tripod, bring down your shutter and up your ISO if necessary to balance it with your flash.

traditional posed formals, inside a church.

You were very clear about what you needed . . . I can't understand why almost everyone has posted pictures that don't fit your situation!! Most of my weddings have been outdoors (here in sunny California). I find indoor shooting more challenging in its own way. I have one coming up in a catholic church with no flash allowed. One of my solutions is to rent the canon 70-200 2.8 IS (I'm saving up for one . . .) Maybe you would be better off doing a search and finding threads that actually address your need. Good luck!!
