My 7 year old decided he wants to play football this year so it's given me a chance to shoot something new. I don't have a decent long lens so these are shot with my old 75-300. Here's from shots from their most recent game.

That's great!
Looks like he's having fun, and you did get some very nice shots!

I think they are great as well. Great colors and exposures especially!

Great shots!
what camera are you using? Sounds like you have the same lense as I do, and
my pics are lacking sharpness. I'm trying to figure out what i'm doing wrong..
So I'm wondering what settings and mode your using. Thanks! :)

75-300 is a Canon lens, the bottom in terms of price and performance.

Stop the lens down a bit (f/8 for example) then raise ISO so that you get at least 1/1000th shutter speed.
If you're not already, use the center-point only for AF on anything short of a 1D body.
That will help.
In addition, be careful how much contrast and saturation you apply, because too much of those will decrease the apparent sharpness of the result.

I shot these with the Canon 75-300 on my 40D. Not a great lens by any means. I tried to keep it from having to shoot wide open by cranking up the ISO a bit. Of course faster shutter speeds help as well. I also only use center point focus. As a side note there is no sharpening done in PP on these.
I can't wait to get a better long lens.
