Full time "Digital Imaging Specialist" at Best Buy.

You can stop laughing now.

I work at the biggest Best Buy in my state and was hired specifically for my dSLR knowledge. I will also be providing training to my coworkers and customers.

I also freelance for multiple outlets, including Prep Sports Online, the St Cloud Times, and www.mnsportspreview.com - the last of which I shoot for myself and sell to parents.

Also attend school - on my last year of a BS in Mass Communications/Photojournalism in addition to getting a 2 or more year tech degree. Getting the 2 year degree to cover myself until newspapers hopefully/maybe/never economically recover and actually open jobs for students.

I don't sleep.

I chose "photography of some kind"

I make videos. I also take photos. I am mainly a videographer... but I'm moving into doing videos and photography...

I'm a hybridographer (my and yohan's term).

Mainly I do video editing I suppose.

I also do graphic design... visual media guy, is what I am.

I use to teach English part time, but I don't like doing that. Too boring, not hard, boring.

I've worked in IT for 26 years and am currently a Project Manager for one of the largest IT companies. About 4 years ago I anticipated my job possibly ending and we took a run at starting a full time photography business doing sports and school photography. About a year into it things shifted at my day job and got more solid and more fun... so I had to eventually make a decision. I am making way too much money in IT to give that up for photography right now, what with 4 kids in private school/college and a stay at home wife. So the photography is a good part time income now. I also developed a big forum similar to POTN (different subject) and do some web development and web hosting which generates additional income too... so I am probably 90% IT, 10% photography at this point, but am still thinking of shifting to photog when and if my day job ever goes away.

Self employed for 20 yrs (after being a portrait & product photographer for 5 yrs and camera store mgr for another 4 yrs). .. Own 2 companies - Under one company name are beauty products (my graphics) plus bas-relief tiles, engraved glass & horse sport event photography. .. and the other company (equineelite.com) - our 'meat & potatoes' -provides great skin care products for dogs & horses to veterinarians, distributors, tack stores and consumers. (the website needs an upgrade.. but I've been busy)

Last spring when I showed up to visit my riding buddies at the first cutting (a horse sport), they roped me into being the photographer for the season. (I use to show cutting horses). .. same w/the two other cutting clubs ... so it's been a busy season.. and I've almost got my new equipment paid off w/photo income. (yay!). I also sculpt & am writing a book (which is why I got back into photography after a long break) ... anyway, photography is used for work but is also something I enjoy.

I am a maintenance manager for a tollway authority in Texas. The nice part of it, is that my boss works about 12 miles from me. I only see him about once every two weeks. I really have no one to answer to. I determine my own schedule, my own work load, and my own hours. And they pay me pretty good money to do it. I tell my wife Traci that they pay me for what I know, not what I do.
Either way, I have lots of available time for getting on the computer and furthering my knowledge in photography. and getting on this forum.....

Ok- I have to comment. That is one heck of a combination. Loss adjuster and a gun salesman. The lawyer in me is absolutely overflowing with witty (witless?) comments about that.....

Lot of cross-over between the two. Nice to know what's pointed at me when I'm doing structural analysis in the bayou...

Student studying Law @ UQ in Aus. But I'm currently on a year off traveling... A profession right now would be really beneficial - then I wouldn't be so broke.
