Had a lot of jobs, eh? Have you ever experienced the pleasure of applying for a job just so you can get it and then walk out in the middle of the busiest time of day? Did that my freshmen year in high school at 14. I got a job at Burger King and waited a couple weeks. I told myself I'd know when it was time and sure enough one day a couple girls came through the drive through that I knew. I was in the drive through and I asked them where they were going. They said to the beach and I took my apron and hat off, threw it to the manager and climbed out the drive through window into their back seat.

Fun times. So many people take life way too seriously.

See that quote in your signature, btw. Walden is one of the greatest books ever written, in my opinion, with Civil Disobedience and Walking tying in a close second and Whitman's Leaves of Grass in third. Native moments is one of my favorite poems.

Ever read Jiddu Krishnamurti's The Awakening of Intelligence? If not you should check it out. He approaches the same transcendence Thoreau wrote about, only through deduction.

Hi all, Just wondering how many people on the forum have photography as there occupation, be it as a photographer, editor etc etc.

The reason i am bringing this up, is because i am approaching the senior years of high school and having to choose subjects and courses for future years. With this i became curious into how many people actually work in the business of photography.

So the things i would like to know are;

If your job is in photography please mention what aspect of photography.
If your occupation is otherwise please state what the occupation is.

Thanks everyone for your participation,

cheers, Nic

Welder / Fitter ! I always have had a love for photography being the son that helped Dad in the studio for years. Dad made a living at it, but I sought other forms of income. I find myself getting back into it though, I enjoy the digital age.... nicer now than in the old days of film.

Right now at age 19, I own Diode Dynamics, LLC, an online automotive parts business.

My plans are to graduate Truman State, where I am now, with a double in business and economics, and either go to law school or jump in the business world.

I am retired now. I had twenty-eight years in law enforcement. During that time I was an Evidence Technician, a Traffic Homicide Detective, and a Hostage Negotiator. I took crime scene photographs while doing these jobs. Now I like to shoot things that are still living.

I'm in IT in the medical field (Hospital). I pretty much do it all though (phone networks, IT calls, repairs, database, server maint., web design and maintenance, etc.) as we are only a 6 person department so we're spread pretty thin.

So you were like the guys on CSI that take tons of photos. I always catch myself checking out their cameras and flashes! lol. I guess in CSI Vegas they primarily shoot Canon, and CSI NY primarily shoots Nikon. I guess if someone watches CSI Miami we can see who get's 2 out of 3!

I've been a professional photographer for twenty years now. Started doing most of my work for textbook publishers. I've now done quite a variety of different work. When we had a creative book here my ad said "Anything but wars and weddings." I now do primarily architecture and corporate with some editorial work thrown in.

I didn't notice many working photographers had responded... Are they rare here?

Seriously! I'm working in electrical construction (on the management side of it) and sometimes I swear it's like a day care for adults! It's amazing some of these guys can even dress themselves in the morning!

Ha Ha, CSI on television is nothing like real life. My first camera was an old Graflex Camera. It used 2 1/4" film and flash bulbs. Every setting was totally was manual. We improved a lot over the years, but don't believe eveything that you see on television.
