Here we go another 5DII thread...

Just doing a few BASIC sums... i know its far more complex than this really but hey what are lunch times for...

Based soley on the restriction of the processor power and pixel density...

30D - 5fps - 8.2mp - 1 processor (41mp/sec) - 2.48 MP/cm
5D - 3fps - 12.7mp - 1 processor (38.1mp/sec) - 1.47 MP/cm
Note the mp/sec processing value is simular.

So using a bit of guess work... if the 30D has 1.68X higher pixel denisty than the 5D and we assume the 5D MkII / 50D have the same...

50D - 6.3fps - 15.1mp - 1 new processor (95.13mp/sec) - 4.56 MP/cm

the 5D MkII would have...

4fps - 23mp - 1 new processor (92 mp/sec) - 2.71 MP/cm

So based on this if the same sensor technology is used as the 50D (which they claim has a 1.5 stop advantage) i think we can hope for at least 1.68x improvement over the 50D on noise.... pretty damn impresive if it's going to be 23mp camera don't you think.

No wonder they are talking eclipse...!

Mmm.... and then what that means for the new 1Ds... mmmmmm...

Processor power and pixel density should have nothing to do with one another. Processor power and total number of pixels maybe, but how close they are is irrelevant.

BTW, you math for the 30D is not correct. It only does 5 fps.

Canon need to do something to knock the D3 and D700 out of the running... maybe we will see a whole bunch of new models... after all you can't have a prosumer model like the 50D having a newer/better processor and sensor technology than your flag ship models can you.

5fps i know... typo... :o

I know they shouldn't but they are two known factors in previously released models.

If this was true it would be AWESOME!

i'd go for 21mp and 5fps over 23mp and 4fps, if it were up to me!

lets hope the noise is damn good, that's the reason i want FF (besides larger VF and more DOF control)
