I went to the fun-fair in Oxford last night- what enormous fun, and remarkably no rain until we were in the bus on the way home. I know fun-fairs are a real cliche, but I've been looking forward to photographing this all year.

Wonderful captures, the third one is my favorite.

#5 is a cracker. Like #8 too but 5 clinches the deal for me.......#2 seems a tad too long of an exposure.

Nicely done.

Cheers,
Mark.

I like number 3 as well. Pretty wild.
Excuse my ignorance, but how did you do it?
It looks almost like a composite, but the repeated subjects are so perfectly spaced (toes touching toes), it can't be.
Did the ride have some sort of strobe light going off?
Great shot.

Thanks so much- I was fully expecting people to see them as clichés and for them to sink unnoticed.

Mark- thanks, that's really interesting about no2, I took lots at different exposures as I wasn't entirely certain what effect I was trying to achieve, and that maybe the problem. I happened to like this one, but I see what you mean, I'll go through the others and see what I can find.

Greg- quite funny really, I'd gone intending to try the multi setting on my flash out, with the aim of achieving exactly that effect, only to find that the ride had its own strobe lights!!!

No 5 for me too..... superb!! I'd love to take my kit to a fair too... but I'm sure that scallies would take a fancy to it!!

I've just shown the full set to my husband who went with me and he thinks I should have posted these two.

He also much prefered this version of 3

Mark- here's a shorter shutter speed

I also came across this one during my search and rather liked it.

Loved them all... great shots! I lived on St. Giles for a month last summer (2007) while studying abroad... Oxford was a great place for pictures even without the fun fair!

Amazing series, you got motion trails when you needed them, and crispness when you needed it.

#5 is my favourite. is it the same ride as in #8? what i really like is the contrast of the building in the rear of #5 set the image looking like there no motion on the ride whilst there actually is!

Thanks again to you all- so pleased you like them.

Layyz- yes it's the same ride- it was a good one- all sorts of colours and angles to take.
