Will a 420EX work ok with a Manfrotto 233b flash bracket mounted on a 10D? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that particular bracket. But I do know to put the Canon flash on a bracket you need the off-camera shoe cord 2(canon) or a wireless unit to trigger the flash(a wein peanut would do it)
With the cord you maintain all flash to camera functions. They're fairly inexpensive. I usu one with my stroboframe bracket.
A bracket is just a holder for your flash. The electronic coupling must be done with the cord or wireless.

Can you get a 3rd party shoe cord instead of dumping $50 for the Canon unit?
