Chinese New Year

Chinese all over the world will be celebrating the Chinese New Year next Wednesday, 9 Feb. Yesterday, I went with my wife and sister-in-law to Chinatown. The place was awashed with red and gold. Though it was in the afternoon of a working day, the place was buzzing with shoppers.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, many Chinese like to decorate their homes with auspicious plants. This is one of them, unfortunately, I do not know the name of this plant.

What great shapes. Looks like some sort of bamboo - but I wouldn't bet my house on it.
