Just received my first lens, for my new body. A fine one she is too. Even without the hills.
Anyway, got this 50mm 1.8 2nd hand, from a trusted company down in the South Island of New Zealand, which gave the lens a rating of 9/10 - Basically "excellent" condition.
Well it was, but it was disturbing to see what they did to my packaging and receipt.
I was mortified. Well not really, but kinda funny.

I think the performance of the lens just got a wee bit worse.
Just found it amusing. Maybe I could order some more lenses, save the tape, and send it to a friend with a N camera, so he can stop it from falling apart.

When I bought my 20D the clerk said "sorry for the sack". I turned to see him putting it into a bright yellow Nikon shopping bag. "No problem" I said "I don't have to worry about anyone stealing it that way". His smile told me that he agreed completely
It is conceited of us to continue to assume that Canon is perfect in every way and that no other company could have an edge on them at least in certain segments of the industry. Nikon clearly is the industry leader in 'post-purchase marketing paraphernalia'. Canon needs to stop spending so much time worrying about making a far superior product and step up to the plate in the 'giveaway crap' department. I am so ashamed.. :o

So that's why all the photo shops push Nikon....free tape.
