First try with 400mm. Trimmed but no PP.

The exposure is right on. Did you try and crop it any?

Was that 400mm w/ a crop factor or a full-frame sensor? I've been wondering how big of a zoom you need to get a picture of the moon to fill most of the frame.

EXIF says 400D, so 1.6x.

Apologies Cameron for the late reply to your question. I took this at about 11pm local time and after posting, logged off. The pic was taken using 400D with 400mm f 5.6. Exposure was 1/250 sec at ISO200 I expanded the image with two clicks on + so the diameter of the moon doubled. There was no other PP.
I was trying to compare this new lens with the 70-300IS I have and am very pleased with the result as the 400mm is much sharper. I suggest you try taking photos of the moon earlier in the lunar month before the moon becomes too bright.
