G'Day All.
These we're taken last year at the Newcastle round of the Australian F1 powerboat championships on Newcastle Harbour. Taken using EOS300D + 75-300mm II lens, attached to a monopod.

These photos are far from technically great, but I hope they convey the impression of speed in these boats. The second picture, shows a boat "on the edge", very close to flipping (although he didn't - it has happened before).

Great shots Steve they certainly do convey the speed of those things, we had some of those racing in our Newcastle here in the UK a few years ago (quite a few years ago actually) long before I was into photography.

Cheers
Ian

Thanks Ian. They should bring them back for you now that you are into photography. They should turn up here again this year (March-April or so), hopefully I'll have a 100-400 by then :-) !

Nice work here Steve. IMO, the second shot really depicts "Speed", while the third shot conveys the "Heat of the Race" quite well. :D

All 3 are great, Steve, but that first one kicks butt. I believe you were on the money with that one.
