I just got back from a week at the Whinfell Forest Center Parcs near the lake district (UK). I spent several nights trying to get a decent shot of the village center and the lake with this being about the best. What do you think? Should i lighten the forground a touch more?

Thanks

I love it, the only thing that I have to point out is exactly what you said - the foreground is perhas a little too dark.

Great picture!

yeah, i thought it was two dark myself but i didn't want it to look to fake by really lightening the forground. Anyway here is another version, anyone like this better?

To be honest I personally loved the first one, and wouldn't have changed a thing. Nice shot.

Lightening the foreground draws my attention to it, and it's not nearly as interesting as the rest of the picture. It's a nice line, but I see it fine in the original version.

Personally I feel the foreground should be darkened, particularly the path. When I first looked at the picture, my eyes were drawn to the building but then distracted by the path at the front (which took me a second to realise what it was), so perhaps darkening it would focus the attention on the building and silhouettes.

get rid of the foreground! the building and the reflections in the lake seem to be the important part of the pic, the path doesn't look quite as interesting to me ;)

really nice pic - you should send Centre Parcs a low res copy and see if they want a proper copy for promo

Thanks everyone, I now believe both pics to be wrong in the foreground. Both are too light.
This happen because my monitor wasn't calibrated. I now have adjusted this image to darken the foreground and it looks cool in print.
