Interesting subject but the images are a bit "flat".
I've noticed quite a few posts with the same theme as this; are you guys in the US pretty much allowed to just walk into these places and snap away?
Similar sort of places here in Australia are always heavily secured making entry pretty difficult.
cheers,

to asnwer Jaysee- Some of the places are secure, but its so heavily wooded here sneaking in is easy, and some places only have a patrol every so oftern, an they're so big that if police come its easy to escape undetected.. Like i said not my best work, those were alll done with a kodak piont an shoot a few years ago, i now have upgraded to an xti and spend much more time with my shoots and photos.
bucket man- They are actually kind of close to albamarle, they're in stuanton. One by the fronteir culture museum, and one right down route 81 from it. Then I use to take pics at Blue ridge hospital in charlottesville wich i think is the first pic, but it has since been torn down, i used to love going there. I'm actually going to plan a trip back up there this weekend or a weekend soon if your interested. My and a friend of mine go up and down the east coast to asylums all the time to take to pics and plan on stopping in stuanton , and going up to maryland again before it gets to cold.

i think its a neat idea.. my heart breaks looking at the building in 3. i love old buildings, and the history in them, and behind them.
have fun with a shoot there.. if i were still on the east coast i would totally go there with you.. it looks like a lot of fun.. i love getting creeped out.

The shoots are always so much fun, Just the adrenaline of being inside, I'm not sure weather i beleive in ghost but i'm always open minded an wonder if todays the i'll see when.. Then avioding being caught and being "stealthy".. A good photographer will do anything to get their shot.. Theres lots of places out west too, I lived in las vegas for 15 years, theres a bunch of old mine towns and stuff in nevada and utah, and california has old mine towns, all the way to abandoned military bases.. I cna't think of any off the top of my head its been so long. But theres places worth while everywhere.

Good stuff.
There's some truly outstanding photography and a very active forum for just this sort of activity to be found at Opacity (http://www.opacity.us/).
