I came across this little guy on a telephone pole alongside an abandoned rail track. Not sure if it is a heron or an egret?

Egret, probably a Snowy. I think.
Pretty nice shot, though a little dark - which is a good way to shoot egrets, but it's also good to brighten them in post processing.
The background looks a bit noisy for ISO 200. Is this cropped or is it the compression that's making it look noisy?

I agree with Scottes, a Snowy Egret. Yellow feet and a black bill.
If it is larger, but with a yellow bill and black feet, then it is a Great White Egret.

... or a Great Egret if your counting... ;) The "white" is redundant
Nice shot of the Snowy,. a great shot indeed. I'd crop a little off the sides of the image and try some levels and color tweeks and frame it :)

Wow! Thank you everyone for your comments, I can't wait to post another picture. Scottes, you are right, this picture was cropped and I did a few other things in Elements II. I really need to learn a lot about my post pic processing so I don't make the pics worse.
thanks again, scurvydog
