As usual, killer surfshots Mike. You must've had alot of fun shooting big Bowls with primo conditions that day huh?
Did those waterbugs get in your way much?;) I usually photochop them out unless it's one of my friends.
I mostly stayed over at Kewalo's taking surf pic's on the Panic's side sitting on a stool in the shade  when the latest swell hit. Must be my old age catching up with me.

Great shots! Nothing like that here in the Midwest. Any chance you can post the EXIF?

when I shoot at Ala Moana, I use a 600mm f4 w/ a1.4 Doubler, never slower than 1/250 for shutter speed. I try to shoot at ISO 200 and with the 1.4 I compensate about a plus one third on the metering read off the breaking wave face. Now that I'm using the Mark III with its Hightlight tone priority has really been a image saver for me in the late morning to mid-afternoon. I don't need it for morning and late-afteernoon. Shoot in Manual for full control, Shoot RAW so you have as much information to work with. With that....pray for surf Aloha!
