What is the best canon camera I could get under $200?

I shoot a 30D; however, I would like to have something smaller as a backup and informal situations, such as family gatherings.

Well, $200 limits the choices a bit as does sticking with Canon but both the A1000 and the SD1100 fall within that range. Of course if your willing to go a bit higher the SX110 is a pretty nice camera for the $$.

Canon A590IS is now $149 at Office Depot

I also was seriously looking at the 590 but have recently been also looking at the SD1100 IS. Trying to find a side by side comparison of the two. This would be a gift for my 13 year old so don't want to spend more than $150. It looks like the SD uses different (possibly rechargeable??) batteries.
