As the riders are cool with the use of flash, then it looks like it works well. Always ask first, though.

#2 is a great shot, especially with the eyes of the rider looking round the corner.

The fill looks good.. I don't think the riders/drivers see the flash go off... I've asked many of them and they didn't know i was even shooting. their attention is on racing.
focal length = 55mm !!! were you covered in dirt ??

i race and when the photographers are there when i ride... unless its a night race and the lighting is bad anyways i don't even see the flashes unless i look for it. as a racer you are always looking at the next obstical. and if you aren't then you are looking down at what you are in now. hardly ever to the side of the track. just my input on that.
the pix look great. i love how you got the roost. im working on this as well i just can't stay off the track long enough if i go! kinda like sending a crack head to crack bust! :)

As long as they are seasoned riders there is nothing in this world that could take their eyes off of the line.

to be perfectly honest the flash made the shots look a bit flat. Your capturing some great action there, and based on how the light is falling on the trees in the background that is some good light to work with. The natural light in those situations looked like it would add more mood into the photo than the fill flash seems to be overwhelming. Perhaps if you could get your flash off of the camera. Possibly behind or to the side to back/side light all that dirt getting kicked up.
